Are connectors and terminals the same product? What is the difference?

2023-07-07

For users who are not familiar with the industry, it may be difficult to distinguish between "terminal" and "connector", as follows:

By definition:

Connector, usually referring to an electrical connector, is a collective term for all connectors that transmit current or signals through the docking of the male and female poles;

Terminals, also known as "wiring terminals", are accessory products used to achieve electrical connections, which are classified as "connectors" in industry.

Terminal is a type of connector, and connector is a general term!

From an application perspective:

Terminal blocks generally belong to rectangular connectors, and their usage range is relatively single. They are generally used in the electronic and electrical fields: PCB board terminals, as well as hardware terminals, nut terminals, spring terminals, etc. In the power industry, there are specialized terminal blocks and boxes: single-layer, double-layer, current, voltage, ordinary, interruptible, etc.

And connectors are mainly used for the connection between circuits and are essential core basic components for electrical connections in circuit systems. The main application fields of connectors are smart homes, automobiles, communication, computers and peripherals, industry, military and aerospace. With the development of the application scope, it will be more and more widely used in various industries!

The above is an introduction to both "terminals" and "connectors", hoping to be helpful to everyone!
